DATA SOURCES FOR CLIMATE PRECIPITATION SIMULATIONS

Observed Precipitation Data

The observed temperature data were based on gridded data sets produced by the Climate Research Unit of the University of East Anglia. The file used was “g55wld0098.dat” downloaded from http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/data/precip/. The maintenance of these precipitation data sets is partly supported by a contract with the UK Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (Contract No. DETR 1/1/85). The data were prepared by Dr Mike Hulme, Climatic Research Unit, School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia, UK

Simulated Precipitaton Data

The simulations were based on the 20c3m scenario in which experiments were run with greenhouse gasses increasing as observed through the 20th century. The files contain monthly simulations. They were downloaded from http://climexp.knmi.nl. The abbreviations of the modelling centres are given in the above table. The file name also includes an abbreviation of the model name and the geographical range.

The simulated precipitation data for comparison are based on the following .dat files, which can be viewed by clicking the three bar icon below to reveal a printable list.
