Ice Cores

Ice CoresThe data were downloaded from: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/indexice.html.

The figure “Alternative ice ages estimates for Vostok ice core” is based on the file vostok_time.txt. The estimates are based on the work of Lorius et al. (1985), Sowers et al. (1993), Jouzel et al. (1993), Jouzel et al. (1996) and Waelbroeck et al. (1995).

The figure “EPICA dome and temperature Milankovitch cycles” is based on ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/icecore/antarctica/epica_domec/edc3deuttemp2007.txt (Reference : Jouzel, J., et al. 2007.EPICA Dome C Ice Core 800KYr Deuterium Data and Temperature Estimates.). The complementary Milankovitch cycle data were based on a series files bein1.dat to bein11.dat downloaded from http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/climate_forcing/orbital_variations/berger_insolation/ and processed by ourselves for the required month and latitude.

The figure “EPICA Dome – temperature and CO2” is based on the same source for temperature and the CO2 on the file : “dc-co2-2008.txt.”.

The graphs “Milankovitch cycles and temperature form Vostok ice core” and “Vostok ice core – temperature and CO2” are based on the files “vostok_deld.txt” and “co2nat.txt”. (References: Jouzel et al. (1987, 1993 and 1996) and Wahlen, M., et al, (2000), Vostok Ice Core CO2 Data, 1105-2856m.

The figure “Temperature – Vostok and EPICA ice cores” is based on the same data as the other figures.

The figure “Temperature - GISP2 and Vostok” is based on the same data as above for Vostok and the “gisp2_temp_accum_alley2000.txt” (Reference: Alley, R.B.. (2004) GISP2 Ice Core Temperature and Accumulation Data.)

The figure “Delta 018 – Nevudao Huascaran” is based on the file “hs2-100a.txt” (Reference: Thompson, L.G., (2001) Huascarán Ice Core Data).

Tree Rings

The tree ring data were downloaded from http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/paleo/treering.html.
